How to manage your claims costs and help your employee.

Helping your employee

• Get Medical Help.
  L&I will pay for the first medical appointment and an ambulance, if needed. Workers may choose their doctor.
• Get the Facts.
  Document what caused the injury, talk with your employee and verify all information in the L&I accident report you will receive.
• Create a Light-Duty Job.
  If you have any work available, get the doctor's approval. Employees usually recover more quickly when they remain on the job.
• Early Return to Work
  The Early Return To Work (ERTW) program ensures that providers, workers, employers and L&I work together and act quickly to assist injured workers return to work.
• Out-of-State Injured Workers
  Washington injured workers benefits and responsibilities do not change if they live outside Washington State.
