Self-Insurance Electronic Data Reporting System (SIEDRS)
Technical information
System updates to use the SIEDRS require programming, testing and possibly changes to the data entered on new claims.
Programming your system
The SIEDRS Enrollment Package provides detailed information.
- Identify the data elements you must capture for using SIEDRS.
Find needed data elements in the Data Dictionary section on page 13 of the SIEDRS Enrollment Package. Your system probably captures most of the data already.
- Modify your data input screens to capture the new data elements.
Find edit rules in the Data Dictionary section on page 13 of the SIEDRS Enrollment Package.
- Modify your system to report paid-to-date amounts.
In some cases, you may want to create and store new elements rather than calculate these amounts every time you extract data for SIEDRS.
- Create extract programs.
An extract program reads the SIEDRS elements in your system, reformats and maps then writes an XML file. It also ensures only required updates are sent to SIEDRS.
- Decide how you want to post and retrieve.
You can manually transfer files to and from SIEDRS and retrieve error reports. To automate this process you will need to modify your system.
- Plan for error correction.
SIEDRS provides error reports in a standard format. It also provides raw error data for customizable reports.
Files for IT staff
The following Extensible Markup Language (XML) and XML Schema Definition (XSD) files behave differently depending on the application software used to open them. Learn about how
3 different applications work with these XML and XSD files.
