L&I purchases work hardening services from approved providers. The work hardening program uses real or simulated work tasks and exercises that are based on the individual. This program provides a transition between acute care and successful return to work.

Prior approval
The work hardening program requires
- Prior approval by the worker's attending physician and
- Prior authorization by the claim manager.
Fee schedule
The work hardening fee schedule gives you information on how to bill for work hardening services.
