Centers of Occupational Health & Education (COHE)
Sustainable Financing
COHEs are contractors to Labor & Industries and are compensated in 2 ways:
- L&I evaluated the resources that would be required to sustain and expand the COHE program, then developed a sustainable, transparent, and fair payment system to support the COHEs’ work. To cover administrative costs, L&I developed a financial model that spreads that cost across all COHE claims.
- Community COHEs are reimbursed $37 per claim initiated by a COHE provider.
- Institutional COHEs are reimbursed $34 per claim initiated by a COHE provider.
- To cover claim-specific work (provided by Health Services Coordinators - HSCs) the COHE bills L&I directly.
Employers will see these charges explained in their Firm Statement of Award (state-fund employers) or Quarterly Reporting (retrospective rating employers).
