We are seeking your Spanish bilingual skills to conduct audits for the Department of Labor and Industries.

 

Job Summary:

This Spanish bilingual position independently conducts audits of business financial records to determine premium liability for industrial insurance. You will perform on-site audits at employer’s facility and survey work operations to determine risk classifications for job hazards of the business and compliance with industrial insurance reporting requirements.

 

The L&I Auditor 3 will:
  • Screen, schedule, coordinate and conduct audits of business financial records.
  • Evaluate and verify financial records to determine compliance.
  • Review employment contracts and conduct fact-finding interviews.
  • Perform on-site audits using both English and Spanish communication skills.
  • Conduct temporary out-of-state audit assignments to determine if industrial insurance premiums are due in Washington.
  • Prepare professional reports.
  • Prepare subpoenas and other legal documents as needed and testify at industrial insurance appeals and court proceedings.
  • Provide professional consulting and technical assistance to educate employers.




Desired qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting and four years of professional accounting or two years of auditing experience

OR


20 semester or 30 quarter hours in accounting and four years of professional accounting or two years auditing experience

 

*Requires the ability to speak, write, and translate in Spanish.

 

Knowledge of:
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Accounting and auditing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, FACT, and Internet.
  • Research and gather information for assessment, analysis, and investigation.
  • Persuade others to voluntarily comply with regulations or policies.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with individuals both inside and outside the agency.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
