Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing workplace ergonomic assessments and job modification consultations for injured workers to help keep employees working or return employees to work at the earliest time possible following an industrial injury. Develops and presents educational workshops for employers, employees, and other professionals in the field of occupational health on topics concerning occupational health or the prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. In addition, the position provide Early Return to Work intervention consultation services including claim related consultation services to injured workers and their employers to enable workers to return to work at the earliest time possible following the industrial injury, or to maintain workers on the job after an industrial injury.

 

Required qualifications of the successful candidate include:

Valid license to practice occupational therapy in the state of Washington.

 
Desired experience:

Experience in industrial rehabilitation, occupational medicine, or as an occupational therapist.

 

Knowledge of:
  • Thorough working knowledge of skeletal, muscular, neuroanatomical, biomechanical, and other physical disabilities, and how they affect a workers ability to successfully perform the duties of their job.
  • State and federal regulations on disability and vocational rehabilitation.


 

Skills and Abilities:
  • Evaluate physical disabilities; communicate with employers, claims, vocational, loss control, safety and medical staff concerning industrial injuries.
  • Perform job descriptions and job modifications.
  • Prepare for and provide educational presentations.
  • Assess ergonomic problems to determine actual and potential work-related musculoskeletal risk factors.
  • Reviews, researches and analyzes ergonomic products, resources and issues in the workplace.
  • Prioritize recommendations made to employers based on engineering, work practice, and administrative controls.
  • Quantify risk factor data.
  • Complete comprehensive written reports and other necessary documentation as part of consultations.
  • Participate, develop and present educational ergonomic workshops for employers, employees and other professionals.
  • Collaborative work style.
