Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the day to day supervision of DOSH Compliance officers that enforce the provision of the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act of 1973. You will work with Regional Compliance Manager and two local supervisors to ensure consistency of the Regional Safety and Health program.

The Safety & Health Supervisor will:
  • Directly supervise safety compliance officers responsible for workplace enforcement of laws and regulations.
  • Review complaints, referral and target lists prior to assignment to S&H Specialist
  • Mentor, coach, advise, and assist regional inspectors with hazard identification.
  • Review and edit inspection reports for completeness, accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide technical assistance on complex matters and public relations.
  • Ensure that fatalities, catastrophes and other high profile accident investigations are initiated as promptly as possible.
  • Develop and approve preliminary work plans.
  • Assist in the development of compliance policy and procedures.
  • Conduct regional staff meetings and annual evaluation reviews.
  • Appear and testify as State’s witness in legal hearings in civil cases and superior court.



Preferred Qualification:

Currently working as a Safety & Health Specialist or Industrial Hygienist
OR
Bachelor’s Degree and four years experience as a safety and health officer, consultant, or inspector

 

Knowledge application of:

WISHA (Washington Industrial Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA (federal government's Occupational Safety and Health Administration) rules and regulations.
