This opportunity offers a career path and the successful candidate will become a member of the Customer Service Program in our Bellevue Service Location. As a team member in this position you will share equally in the responsibility of providing direct assistance to internal customers of the agencies' programs and external customers who call in on a regional multi-line telephone system.


The Office Assistant 3 will:
  • Routinely and promptly answer telephone inquiries, directing and or transferring customers appropriately.
  • Ask appropriate questions; apply customers’ needs to the business of L&I.
  • Locate and offer information about other resources to assist your customers.
  • Call business owners and make them aware of audit dates.
  • Create meeting notices using Outlook.
  • Use a computer to enter data, process electrical inspection requests and refunds, premium contribution payments and warrants.
  • Perform complex word processing; merging, sorting and integrating spreadsheets and database files.
  • Adhere to agency policies, processes and procedures when releasing confidential client information.
  • Prepare outgoing mail and receive and distribute incoming mail.
  • Maintain general office forms and supply levels.
 
Preferred Qualifications:

Two years of customer service experience; assisting customers with inquiries, complaints and problems in a professional office environment AND one year experience handling cash.

 


Skills and Abilities:
  • Skilled at using professional phone etiquette while answering a multi-line telephone; taking messages and transferring calls.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Communicate effectively and assist upset, confused, or otherwise difficult customers.
  • Skilled with multiple computer programs and databases such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent written communication skills, ability to compose correspondence, forms, and drafts.
  • Strong proofreading skills, ability to correct materials for sentence structure, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to manage workload and organize assignments to produce accurate timely work.
  • Reliable and dependable with the ability to work with limited need for oversight.
  • Responsible for accurate cash handling including reconciling daily transactions, preparing daily deposits and ability to troubleshoot discrepancies fiscal transaction.
  • Produce accurate, timely and thorough work.
  • Multi-task in fast paced environment and work with multi-diverse people.

  • Prior to any new appointment into L&I, a background check, including criminal record history, will be conducted.
  • Employees driving on state business must have a valid driver’s license. Employees driving a privately owned vehicle on state business must have liability insurance on the privately-owned vehicle.
