We have multiple Claim Manager – Workers Compensation Adjudicator vacancies. As a Claim Manager you are responsible for independently managing a caseload of medical only and time loss workers’ compensation claims. You will make legally binding decisions regarding injured workers’ entitlements including permanent partial disability awards.

As a Claim Manager – Workers Compensation Adjudicator you will:

 

Manage a caseload

  • Review; adjudicate industrial insurance claims in accordance with the industrial insurance laws, and case law.
  • Interpret facts and apply the law in determining claim validity and ongoing adjudicative action, meeting all timeliness expectations.
  • Determine need for vocational services, make appropriate referrals, monitor progress and take ongoing actions.
  • Make a decision if time-loss compensation is payable, establish initial rate of compensation and if necessary, issue a wage order.
  • Respond to liens or other reductions in time-loss compensation benefits according to statute.
  • Resolve and communicate decisions made in response to protests.
  • Address board and court orders and applications to reopen prior claims.
  • Compose medical examination assignments and investigation assignments, legal orders, and letters.
  • Close claims appropriately.

 

Provide direct customer service

  • Clearly and concisely, talk and correspond with workers, employers, doctors, and attorneys.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding claim information, the department’s rules and regulations, and the claim adjudication process.
  • Give guidance and counsel lower level adjudicative staff on adjudicative issues.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum one year of experience as a Workers’ Compensation Adjudicator 2
OR;
Three years of experience as a time loss claim adjuster under Title 51

*Candidate will be hired as a WCA 2 and will serve up to six month in training. After successful completion of the in training program they will be promoted to a WCA 3.

 

Skills & Abilities

Decision making: Review, adjudicate, and manage Industrial Insurance claims following industrial insurance laws and case law. Apply laws and policies and interpret facts to determine validity and entitlement to benefits.

Customer service: Cooperative, courteous and responsive in all interactions. Addresses customers inquiries promptly; exhibiting integrity, honesty and professionalism.

Communication skills: Good grammar, spelling and writing skills with equally strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Effectively communicate with upset customers and use a multi-line telephone, capturing accurate and thorough information from telephone conversations.

Team focused: Open, honest and cooperative work style, ability to give and accept constructive feedback, share information on techniques to encourage team success.

Organized: Effectively prioritize and perform multiple tasks. Meet productivity standards, deadlines and work schedules; working to be efficient in the use of resources, work time, and equipment.

Use a computer: Move between multiple computer programs and the Internet to accurately enter and update information.

Professional: Prompt, dependable maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
