The Chief of Claims administers and manages the State Fund claims operation. This program manages injured worker claims and provides workers’ compensation benefits associated to industrial injuries. The Chief of Claims is responsible for the overall financial and operational integrity of the State Fund claims program. As the 8th largest workers’ compensation carrier in the nation, the Washington State Fund manages the claims of two-thirds of Washington’s injured workers who are employed by approximately 160,000 Washington employers. The State Fund provides workers’ compensation benefits associated with the 150,000 industrial injuries which occur each year. As a member of the agency's Leadership and Executive Management Teams, the Chief of Claims plays a significant role in developing and managing the Department's strategic and policy direction. This position is responsible for a $27 million biennial budget and oversees the responsibilities of 425 staff.
