TUMWATER — Registration is open for the 61st annual Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference on Sept. 26 and 27 at the Spokane Convention Center.

The conference is one of the largest of its kind in the nation for workers, employers and safety and health professionals. It brings together leading industry experts to deliver a program of cutting-edge education, best practices, peer networking and demonstrations.

Conference sponsors are the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Department of Labor & Industries, with support from industry partners.
 
The conference opens with the presentation of the 2012 Governor’s Lifesaving Awards, recognizing people whose heroic acts helped save a life. This year, the awards will be presented by KREM 2 news anchor Laura Papetti.

Featured conference events and activities include:       

  • Two full days of 60-plus industry workshops.
  • Displays and product demonstrations by more than 80 exhibitors.
  • High-voltage demonstration.
  • 39th annual Pole-top Rescue Competition.
  • 15th annual Forklift Rodeo.
  • An optional pre-conference session OSHA 10 course.

A $160 advance registration fee (prior to Sept. 14) covers the two-day event; after this date, the fee will be $180; cost at the door is $200. There are special discounts for groups of five or more. Students in a college, university or trade program pay only $50.
