First Aid in Construction Sites
First aid requirements for construction sites are contained in both the construction standard and in the core rules.
- Every worksite must have at least one person holding a valid first aid card
- First aid supplies must be "readily available" -- both at the worksite and in any vehicle used to transport work crews
- The construction standard no longer lists what the first aid kits must contain, but Red Cross and ANSI have recommendations
- "Readily available" means that the kits can't be locked, and should be able to be carried to where needed.
- The cover of a first aid kit should give the worksite address or clear directions to the location.
- (check with your local emergency response service. You might now be able to supply them with GPS coordinates for even faster response.)
