Keep other companies' employees from hurting your business

IF you use

• Temporary employees or leased employees,

THEN you are responsible to Provide temporary employees with a safe workplace

• Contractors/subcontractors

THEN you are responsible to:

• Ensure they really are an independent contractor, and not legally your employees
• Screen subcontractors -- avoid the ones who set you up for expensive losses.
• Stay actively involved to protect your company!
  • Provide the employees with a safety orientation [see Section 3b]
  • Provide necessary Personal Protective Equipment
  • Require all employees to attend safety meetings or participate in your safety committee
  • Include all work areas in your safety inspections
