Keep other companies' employees from hurting your business

IF you use

• Temporary employees or leased employees, or
• Contractors/subcontractors

THEN you are responsible to:

Provide temporary employees with a safe workplace

If you are using a contractor/subcontractor: ensure they're not legally still your employees

Use the suggested form (pdf) to determine how much their primary employer stresses safety

• Get good information on the primary employer's safety practices and their record
• Ensure a contractor/subcontractor has a site-specific safety plan
• See what you are responsible for providing
• Fulfill your responsibilities as a general contractor
  • Provide the employees with a safety orientation
  • Provide necessary Personal Protective Equipment
  • Require all employees to attend safety meetings or participate in your safety committee
  • Include all work areas in your safety inspections
