L&I's Safety & Health eRules Project

Formatting for the Future

Welcome to the eRules information page. In June 2013, L&I began a rule improvement project to make the safety and health rules:

  • Easier to read, understand, and refer to – both online and in print – and easily readable using smartphones, tablets, etc.
  • Consistent in look and feel with new quick-navigation features such as bookmarks and word search.
  • Print the way they look online.

Improving the rules will make it easier for everyone who needs to read and comply with, or enforce, the safety and health rules.

No rule requirements will be changed. This project affects only how the rules look.

See the Q&A for a timeline and more information.

Rulemaking updates

July 2013 update

On June 18, 2013, DOSH filed a CR-105 notice of expedited adoption of rules for the first filing of the Rules reformatting rule making project.  On July 12, 2013, DOSH received a written objection to the expedited rule making.  As required by RCW 34.05.353 (leg.wa.gov), DOSH will no longer proceed with this rule making package on an expedited basis and will treat the original  CR-105 expedited notice filing as a CR-101 statement of inquiry (also referred to as a "prenotice inquiry").

DOSH will file a CR-102 notice of proposed rule in the near future and announce the dates and locations for public hearings.  Information on this rulemaking will be provided as the project progresses.
