Safety & Health Grants

Safety and Health Investment Projects (SHIP) grants are awarded to projects directed at preventing workplace injuries, illnesses, and fatalities in Washington State. Priority for funding will be given to proposals that involve cooperation between employers and employees or their representatives. Rules governing the grant program are found in WAC 296-900-175.

Applying for a Grant

The SHIP program is not currently accepting grant applications! Completed applications must have been received or post marked no later than August 31, 2009. The next invitation for grant applications will occur in early 2010. Watch this web page for future announcements regarding dates.

Products and materials created or developed using SHIP grant money must be made available for distribution by L&I to any workplace that can benefit from their use.

The SHIP program is hosting SHIP grants information sessions at the SHIP office in Olympia, WA to answer your questions about SHIP grants or the grant application process. There is no cost to attend one of these sessions, but space is limited and registration is required. Contact the SHIP program at 360-902-5588 to register.

Deadline for submitting SHIP grant applications to be considered for January 2010 funding/start dates.

Application reviews and evaluations completed by SHIP program staff and the SHIP Advisory Committee.

Final decision on grants approved for funding.

January 31, 2010

Grant awards and grantee orientations completed.

Approved Grants

A goal of the SHIP grants is that the products, training, guidelines and other materials created under the grant program have the greatest possible impact. Products produced by SHIP grant projects will be accessible for download from this Web site at no cost after projects are completed. Check the site often for new additions.
