The table below describes the steps involved in the ergonomics rule-making process. The rule was adopted on May 26, 2000.

Steps taken to develop Washington's Ergonomics rule

October 1998

Held nine public Rule Development Conferences in seven cities across the state.

February-June 1999

Worked with two advisory committees - the Ergonomics Rule Making Advisory Committee and the Subcommittee on Ergonomics Rule Making , established by the Construction Advisory Committee (CAC).

November 1999

Published the Ergonomics Rule Proposal and the Small Business Economic Impact Statement

January 2000

Conducted 14 public hearings in seven cities across the state.

January-May 2000

Review and analyze all comments from the public hearings and the written testimony.

About the end of May 2000

Publish the final ergonomics rule and supporting documents.
