Legislation considered to require disclosure of residential conveyancesOn July 2, 2004, the Department of
Labor and Industries (L&I) was notified that an eight-year-old
boy died while riding an “elevator” in a private
residence. This conveyance was installed in the private residence
by a previous homeowner without the required permits and,
as a result, was never inspected by the L&I to ensure
that it was in safe working condition. ![]() State elevator chief Dotty Stanlaske is one of the first to apply for an elevator mechanic license.
