Teen-worker restaurant safety workshop

Supervising for Safety — Injury Prevention and
Changing the Culture of Workplace Health and Safety

The Department of Labor and Industries has conducted a statewide program since 2001 to prevent injuries to teen workers in restaurants. The workshop discusses general risk management strategies, and how to prevent common injuries such as, slips and falls, cuts, burns and sprains. Information about the special needs of young workers also is presented.

Feedback from past attendees has been very positive and many have indicated that the information is beneficial for workers of all ages.

This workshop is appropriate for restaurant owners, managers, supervisors, those in culinary arts programs and anyone interested in an awareness level of restaurant specific recommendations and requirements for safety. Meet and discuss important issues with others looking to solve similar problems. Many useful resources and handouts will also be provided.

Any organization or employer can schedule a workshop for employees or managers.
