Hearing set Oct. 30 on proposal to simplify rules for self-insured employers
TUMWATER - A hearing is set for Oct. 30 on a proposal to simplify a number of rules regarding the handling of injured worker claims by self-insured employers in Washington.
The Department of Labor & Industries will hold the hearing at 9 a.m. in the auditorium of the L&I building in Tumwater at 7272 Linderson Way S.W.
The proposal regroups sections in Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 296-15 into three distinct subject areas for easier understanding by self-insured employers. The claim-processing rules were re-drafted. Eight new rules are being proposed to replace 12 current rules, which will be repealed.
The proposal used clear rule writing principles that stress brevity and the elimination of repetitive phrasing.
If accepted, the department would adopt the proposal Dec. 2, and it would become effective Jan. 1, 1999.
