Hearings scheduled on electrical certification, contracting requirements

TUMWATER - The Department of Labor & Industries has proposed changes to the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) that will address electrical certification and contracting requirements. L&I will conduct four public hearings in late November for public comment on changes to the electrical rules.

The proposed rules establish requirements for telecommunication installations, installers and inspections in response to a law passed by the 2000 Legislature.

This effort also incorporates written policies into rule, clarifies technical issues and provides an opportunity for contractors and installers currently doing electrical work to use previous work experience toward qualification as electrical contractors and electricians.

Hearings are scheduled in:

Tumwater - Nov. 27, 1:30 - 6:30 p.m., Department of Labor & Industries Building,
7273 Linderson Way SW.

Everett - Nov. 28, 1:30 - 6:30 p.m., Best Western Cascadia, 2800 Pacific Ave.

Yakima - Nov. 29, 1:30 - 6:30 p.m., West Coast Hotels at Yakima Center, 607 E Yakima Ave.

Spokane - Nov. 30, 1:30 - 6:30 p.m., West Coast Grand Hotel, 303 W North River Dr.

Oral and written comments will be accepted at the public hearings and by mail or fax until Nov. 30.

FAX: 360-902-5292. Please limit to 10 pages or less.
