Hearing scheduled for traffic/construction worker safety rules
TUMWATER - The Department of Labor & Industries has added an additional public hearing in Spokane at month's end for public comment on changes to rules that protect workers from traffic in construction and work zones.
The initial hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m. April 22, 2002, in the auditorium of the L&I central office building, 7273 Linderson Way SW in Tumwater.
The proposed rules, requested from within the industry, protect workers on foot from traffic hazards created by construction sites and work zones. Specifically, the proposal addresses:
- Site-specific traffic safety plans.
- Minimum illumination requirements.
- Vehicle operation and parking.
- High visibility garments.
- Protective helmets.
The Spokane hearing will be held at 1:30 p.m., April 30, 2002, at L&I's Spokane Service Center, 901 N. Monroe St., Suite 100.
