Competitors needed for Seattle-area regional forklift competition
TUMWATER — Professional forklift drivers in Western Washington are invited to compete Aug. 13 in a forklift rodeo at Boeing’s Oxbow Facility in Duwamish. Those who place first, second and third will win prizes ranging from $100 to $300.
Employers are encouraged to sponsor in-house competitions and send their best drivers. Participation is limited to the first 30 drivers who register.
The top eight individual qualifiers from each of three regional competitions — in Pasco, Spokane and King County — will compete in the 8th Annual Forklift Rodeo at the 54th Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference in Tacoma on Sept. 28.
Competitors in Seattle test their abilities in a written exam, pre-use inspection of a forklift and an obstacle course. Entry fee is $40. Applications are at www.wagovconf.org or by calling 360-902-5591 or 888-451-2004 (TDD users: 360-902-5797). There is no admission charge for spectators.
