May 14, 2007 Heroes and heroines sought for saving a lifeTUMWATER — If you know a Washington worker whose quick thinking and fast actions saved a life, the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board would like to hear from you. Nominations for the governor’s annual lifesaving awards are currently being accepted. All Washington workers covered by the workers’ compensation system or a self‑insured employer are eligible for the lifesaving nomination. The heroic act must have taken place between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, any day or time, anywhere in the world. The nominee must have performed “hands-on” aid in saving a life. For law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and other emergency aid professionals, the lifesaving action must be “above and beyond the line of duty.” Award recipients will be featured guests at the 56th Annual Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center. The Sept. 26-27 conference is co-sponsored by the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. For a lifesaving nomination form and additional information, contact Barbara Saunders, Lifesaving Award Coordinator, at 360-902-5442 or foib235@LNI.wa.gov. The form is also available online at www.wagovconf.org/lifesaving.htm. For more information about the conference, call toll-free 1-888-451-2004.
