July 1, 2008 Competitors needed for Spokane forklift rodeoTUMWATER – Professional forklift drivers in Eastern Washington are invited to compete July 12 in a forklift rodeo at Spokane Community College in Spokane. The top seven drivers will win prizes ranging from $50 to $300. Employers are encouraged to sponsor in-house competitions and send their best drivers. Participation is limited to the first 30 drivers who register. The top five individual qualifiers from each of three regional competitions – in Kennewick, Spokane and King County – will compete in the 11th Annual Forklift Rodeo at the 57th Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference in Spokane Sept. 24. The conference is co-sponsored by the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Department of Labor and Industries. Competitors in Spokane test their abilities in a written exam, pre-use inspection of a forklift, and an obstacle course.
