July 25, 2008 Registration now open for worker safety and health conferenceTUMWATER – Registration is now open for the 57th annual Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference Sept. 24 and 25 at the Spokane Convention Center. The conference is sponsored by the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Department of Labor & Industries, with support from industry partners. It is one of the largest of its kind in the nation and draws thousands of workers, employers, and safety and health professionals. This year’s theme is "Workplace safety and health doesn’t happen by accident.” The conference opens with the presentation of the Lifesaving Awards, which recognize people whose heroic acts helped save a life. A $140 advance registration fee covers the two-day event; cost at the door is $160. Groups of 25 or more pay $90 each; students and apprentices pay $20 each.
