Competitors needed for Central Washington forklift rodeo
TUMWATER – Professional forklift drivers in Central Washington are invited to compete June 27 in a forklift rodeo at the Volpentest HAMMER Training and Education Center in Richland. The top seven drivers will win prizes ranging from $50 to $300.
Employers are encouraged to sponsor in-house competitions and send their best drivers. Participation is limited to the first 30 drivers who register.
The top five individual qualifiers from each of three regional competitions – in Richland, Spokane and Seattle – will compete in the 12th Annual Forklift Rodeo at the 58th Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference in Tacoma Oct. 7. The conference is co-sponsored by the Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board and the Department of Labor and Industries.
Competitors in Richland test their abilities in a written exam, pre-use inspection of a forklift, and an obstacle course. Registration forms are available at Forklift Rodeo or by calling 360-902-4255 or 888-451-2004 (TDD users: 360-902-5797). Entry fee is $40. There is no admission charge for spectators.
