Changes requiring applicants for electrician certification take effect July 1, 2013.
This change requires applicants to complete Basic Classroom Instruction in addtion to work experience hours to be approved to test by the department. The number hours required is shown by specialty type below.
- EL01 - General Journeyman
- 8,000 hours of experience
- 96 hours Basic Classroom Instruction credits
- EL02 - Residential, EL03- Pump & Irrigation, EL04- Signs, EL06 -Limited Energy, EL6A - HVAC Refrigeration, and EL07-Non-Residential Maintenance
- 4,000 hours of experience
- 48 hours Basic Classroom Instruction credits
- EL6B - HVAC/Refrigeration Restricted, EL7ANon-Residential Lighting Maintenance, EL7B- Residential Maintenance, EL7C - Restricted Non-Residential Maintenance, EL7D - Appliance Repair, EL7E Equipment Repair, and EL10 - Door, Gates and Similar Systems.

- 24 hours Basic Classroom Instruction credits
