This chapter applies to suspended and
supported scaffolds, including their supporting structures and
anchorage points.

- – Manually propelled elevating
work platforms
- – Self-propelled elevating
work platforms
- – Boom-supported elevating
work platforms
- – Aerial lifts
- – Crane or derrick suspended
personnel platforms
- – Personnel platforms supported
by powered industrial trucks (PITs).

Definition:
- A scaffold is a temporary
elevated platform, including its supporting structure
and anchorage points, used for supporting employees or
materials.
- A suspended scaffold
is one or more platforms suspended from an overhead structure
by ropes or other nonrigid means.
- A supported scaffold
is one or more platforms supported by rigid means such
as outrigger beams, brackets, poles, legs, uprights, posts,
or frames.
