Learn how to keep your employees safe around crowds (178 KB PDF).
Is your workplace ready for holidays and the hazards that go along with big storewide sales events? Include worker safety in your preparations for holiday crowds and storewide events, such as “Black Friday” sales.
Planning and training about crowd management safety is especially important, but the holiday shopping season is also an opportune time to focus on some common hazard prevention topics:
- Using ladders safely when hanging up store decorations and creating product displays.
- Recognizing and eliminating slip and trip hazards created by merchandise, wet floors, and damaged stairs and walkways.
- Using correct lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, or positioning techniques.
- Replacing damaged plugs, cords, outlets, and other electrical components of product displays.
Eliminating or minimizing hazards reduces risk for serious and costly injuries and illnesses — and that makes good business sense.
