Homeowner Installation

A homeowner can install a manufactured or mobile home that is intended as their primary residence. They may have friends or family help with the installation, but the homeowner cannot pay them for the work. If the homeowner pays anyone to do any part of the installation work, that person must be certified.

Installer certification tag requirements

Homeowners who perform installation work on their own residence do not need to obtain or post an installer certification tag for their work. They are exempt from installer certification tag requirements as long as:

  • They or their friends or family members performed the work,
  • They did not pay anyone to perform the work, and
  • The home is intended as their primary residence.
