The project goal is to engage all parties in preventing work disability by improving return-to-work outcomes. Private-sector vocational providers are working alongside L&I staff on this project. Based on recommendations that emerge from the project, L&I will refocus its vocational services.
Impetus for project
The Vocational Recovery Project (VRP) is:
- Part of L&I's response to a 2016 report from the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee.
- One of L&I's major initiatives under strategic Goal 2: Helping Injured Workers Heal and Return to Work (F101-171-000).
Project advisors
Private-sector vocational providers and L&I staff meet regularly to provide feedback and overall guidance on the project.
VRP project teams (workstreams)
Private-sector vocational providers and L&I staff are collaborating to address issues in L&I's system. The workstreams will propose changes that support better return-to-work outcomes and improvements to our partnership.
