Rule Development
2023 Rule Changes and Fee Increase
The Board of Boiler Rules and the Washington Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) has filed proposed changes to the boiler rules governing boilers and pressure vessels. The change affect safety codes, installer and clearance requirements, and fee for boilers and pressure vessels. The CR-102 proposal was filed with the state's Office of the Code Reviser on Jan. 2.
L&I filed a CR-102 Continuance in order to extend the public comment period and allow for more opportunity for public comment.
If adopted the new rules would take effect July 5, 2024.
How to participate
A public hearing on the proposed rules is scheduled for May 22, at 10:20 a.m. The public hearing will be a "hybrid" event, that is, people can attend in person, by telephone, or Zoom. The hearing will continue until all oral comments are received.
The public hearing will take place at the L&I Headquarters Building, 7273 Linderson Way SW Tumwater.
