What the boiler owner/user needs to do

  1. You will need to complete a copy of the permit for each boiler and/or pressure vessel in your facility.  Fill out Section A only on the Boiler/Pressure Vessel/Water Heater Installation or Reinstallation Permit form.  Please be sure to fill out this section completely and in full to avoid any delays in processing.
  2. Once the form is complete, save it to your computer in its original format (Microsoft Word) and email it to Boiler@Lni.wa.gov.

You may also mail or fax it to the following address:

What L&I will do

  1. Review the Boiler/Pressure Vessel/Water Heater Installation or Reinstallation Permit form to ensure all information in the required fields has been completed.
  2. Within 48 hours after we receive the information listed above, Boiler program staff will review it. We will then:
    1. Send it back if it contains errors that must be corrected, OR
    2. Assign the permit a number.

We will email, fax, or mail a copy of the permit to the boiler owner/originator of the permit.

IMPORTANT: After we receive your permit application, we will assign an inspector, and send you the approved permit with your inspector's name and number. You must contact the inspector when you’re ready for inspection and post a copy of the permit on or very close to the boiler/pressure vessel.

checklists & inspections

Pre-inspection checklists

The checklists below address the most common violations found by field inspectors. Complete all applicable checklists before scheduling your inspection to ensure a successful inspection.

Getting your boiler inspected

The boiler or pressure vessel owner/user is responsible for contacting the L&I Boiler Inspector responsible for their inspection. The contact information of your inspector is listed on the permit.

billing & fees

The installer of a regulated boiler, pressure vessel, or water heater is responsible for obtaining the permit, and paying the permit fee. All other fees, such as inspection and certificate fees, are billed to the boiler owner after the final inspection has been completed. The final “Certificate of Inspection” will not be issued until the Boiler Program has received full payment. The fees for various services are listed below.
