Who can participate in the VEI Inspection?
- Certified electricians that participated in the installation to be inspected.
- Electrical Trainees who participate in the installation for HVAC, underground, and residential single family temporary services.
What kinds of installations can VEI inspect?
- Most installations that take less than 15 minutes.

Where can you find the app?
- VEI uses Microsoft Teams.
- Download the app for free using the link.
- During app set up, you must accept all permissions and verify your email when asked.
- You must have adequate cellular/internet service at the inspection location.
When are inspections available?
- Weekdays between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. except holidays.
- Limited availability between 4 - 5 p.m.
How to book a Virtual Inspection (VEI)

- Booking starts at 7:45 a.m.
- Appointments are ready now (on-demand) and inspected in the order in which they are received.
- Select the next available time. Note: chosen time slot does not affect on demand, all appointments made are considered ‘Ready Now’.
- When scheduling please provide an accurate description of the installation to be inspected. DO NOT use the word FINAL as your description.
- Add your details and select Book.
- Please join the appointment immediately upon receiving the confirmation email. The email will have ‘Join your Appointment’. An inspector will be with you shortly.
General Information about VEI inspections.
- Large projects may require VEI and Field inspections at different times during the project.
- VEI will not perform final inspections on large projects. Please involve field inspectors on larger projects to keep local offices familiar with job progress.
- Prior to your inspection time please have all panels, boxes, and equipment open for inspection.
- Before booking a VEI inspection, cancel any field inspections for the work that will be inspected. Failure to do so may result in additional fees.
- If you are not ready for inspection, may also result in additional fees.
Examples of VEI inspections:
- HVAC/R systems.
- Underground installations, except in Chapter 5 classified locations.
- Temporary service for construction sites.
- Small projects such as tenant improvements, equipment upgrades, EV chargers, and lighting retrofits.
- Remodels, except when wiring has been exposed to fire or water.
- Agricultural irrigation systems such as , pivots, pumps, and chemical injection systems.
- Electric service and feeders under 1000 volt/1000 amps.
- Cover inspections for new dwellings may be inspected by VEI under special circumstances approved by the VEI Supervisor.
- Solar installs up to 12kw.
