The Board of Boiler Rules (board) and Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) are considering amendments to the boiler rules under Chapter 296-104 WAC. The amendments under consideration would affect inspection and operation requirements for boilers, definitions, and fees. The board reviews the rules on a regular basis to ensure the rules are consistent with national boiler and unfired pressure vessel safety standards and industry practice. Rule changes are necessary to make updates, clarification, housekeeping, and other changes to the boiler rules. L&I filed a CR-101 Preproposal Statement of Inquiry on October 21, 2025 (WSR 25-21-130).

An update on the status of this rulemaking will be provided during the quarterly board meeting.
