Details

The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries’ (L&I) Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) is conducting rulemaking to update current requirements relating to cranes, rigging, and personnel lifting in construction located in chapter 296-155 WAC, Part L.

This proposed rulemaking is in response to updates to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) standard for cranes and derricks in construction, as well as changes initiated by L&I. Additional details about this rulemaking, including a copy of the Preproposal Statement of Inquiry (CR-101) and the preliminary draft rule, are provided on the stakeholder information website.

Note: Second Substitute House Bill 2022, which passed during the 2024 legislative session, may affect the content of this rulemaking. L&I anticipates discussing more specifics on those potential changes at the April stakeholder meetings.

At the meetings, L&I staff will provide an overview of the key proposed changes in the preliminary draft rule, respond to questions, and receive feedback.

In addition to stakeholder feedback provided at the meetings, L&I also welcomes and encourages written comments. The deadline for submitting feedback on the preliminary draft version of the rule is Monday, April 15, 2024. Please submit comments to Cindy Ireland.
