During incident responses, law enforcement officer are exposed to serious hazards:

  • Airborne contaminants (drugs, such as fentanyl; lead emissions from firearms).
  • Biological pathogens (from contaminated needles, blood, humane waste).
  • Moving vehicles.
  • Adverse driving conditions.
  • Being struck by hostile individuals or weapons.
